Good Morning Yellow Group!
As you can't use the language lab today - you can use this blog to share your impressions of Newcastle with each other. In case you don't know what a blog is, it's a website, in this case, one that has been set up by one of your tutors. Your tutor will post a message, like this one, for you to respond to.
Today the topic is 'First Impressions of Newcastle'. I came to Newcastle 5 years ago from London where I had lived for most of my life. The main difference for me was that Newcastle was a much smaller city and therefore easier to get around than London. You can cross the city on foot in less than an hour! The other main thing I noticed was that, although there are lots of overseas students from different countries, Newcastle isn't as multi cultural as London, which has people from all over the world living in all parts of the city. Finally, and for me importantly because I love sunny weather, in the summer, the weather isn't as good up here as it is in London. However, overall I prefer living here than in London as the cost of living is not as high, eg; transport and housing is cheaper - that's for sure! Also, it really is quite a lively city - there is lots to do in Newcastle and it isn't too crowded, which suits me fine! I don't miss London at all really!
What about you? What were your first impressions of this city? How can you compare it with your home town or city? Would you like to stay here for ever, or will you be happy to leave?
